Research and Development

rd-01Since the formation of LABOSPORT the company has invested heavily in Research and Development. This has provided an unrivalled knowledge of products, testing methods and test equipment.

LABOSPORT is regarded as the leading independent experts in the world of sports grounds. Many of the companies’ innovations have enabled the industry to enhance the quality of its products by the development of new testing methods.

With experimental stations across the world, LABOSPORT has been testing the resistance of synthetic products to intense climatic conditions for many years.

Several examples of research which have been performed by LABOSPORT during recent years:

•    SEQUISOL Project, together with Ecole Nationale Vétérinaire de Maison Alfort (ENVA)
•    Ageing study on synthetic turf combining friction and intense stepping. Development of the LISPORT XL
•    Study on the warming up of synthetic turf under bright light
•    Toxicology study on synthetic grounds
•    Study on the viscoelastic behaviour of sports coverings and of shock absorption
•    Study on shock absorption and flexibility of synthetic turf football pitches (in collaboration with The Board of Youth and Sports for Paris City)
•    Study on the ageing of synthetic grass fibres and their characterization by infra-red spectrometry (in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sport)
•    Development of a device for measuring slide for the International Tennis Federation
•    Study on tennis ball rebound on 45 courts for the French Federation of Tennis
•    Study on false tennis ball rebounds (allowable values – uneven surfaces)
•    Study on the compatibility of rubber granules and polyurethane binder of athletics tracks, EPS and tennis courts
•    Development of a device to measure interaction between skin and the sport surface : SECURISPORT
•    Study of the resistance of synthetic grass to crampons and of their shockpads to shock absorption. Development of the LISPORT
•    Study of surface deformation of sports grounds. Application of the Stuttgart accelerometer method
•    Testing of tennis balls and football balls (durability tests)
