Site testing

On site diagnosis: LABOSPORT can independently inspect sports facilities and provide expertise diagnosis as to help identify and/or solve problems. The company has extensive knowledge and background experience in this area and has acted as expert witness on numerous occasions.

Previous problems that have been identified and / or solved have included issues relating to construction properties, installation quality, material faults, maintenance suitability, environmental issues and many other factors.
Key stage inspection: LABSOPORT offers a comprehensive suite of tests for facilities during construction (both renovations and new builds). These tests are related to build quality and compliance with design specification / legal requirements; they commonly include the follow:

•   Formation inspection (slope, flatness, stiffness and drainage)
•   Sub-base and macadam layer inspection (compliance of material used, stiffness, layer thickness, permeability, flatness, slope…)
•   Shockpad / E-layer (slope, tensile strength, thickness, permeability, flatness…)

Site samples are commonly taken to the laboratory for enhanced checks including tensile strength, material classification / grading and many other quality control checks.

These inspections provide a quality assurance of the installation to ensure the facility is being constructed to the correct standards and with the materials as specified. These tests and checks provide quality assurance and will help identify any potential problems whilst it is still relatively easy to rectify. This limits the risks to all parties involved in the project.

LABOSPORT have the appropriate insurance backing for professional indemnity for all works undertaken.
Product identification: LABOSPORT provide a comprehensive range of conformity checks and tests of the product installed on site against the manufacturer’s declaration and design specification. This testing includes a combination of chemical and physical analysis.
Inspection upon completion: Final inspections are conducted to ensure the facility performs to the required standard(s). There are many standards which are commonly sport specific and LABOSPORT are accredited to undertake such testing by all the major sports federations and governing bodies.

Performance testing provides validation that the surface conforms to the appropriate standard(s) such as EN 15330-1; EN 14904; NFP90-113, FIFA Quality Concept, IRB Regulation 22, IAAF, FIH and many others.

LABOSPORT is accredited to issues reports by all the major sports federations and national / international standards.

LABOSPORT is quality managed to ISO 17025 to ensure the highest quality, accuracy and repeatability of results.
Periodical inspection / Re-tests: Sports facilities will often need to be re-tested on a periodic basis to ensure conformity to the required standard(s). This can be linked to a particular requirement of a specific competition (i.e. part of sports federation’s regulations) or to ensure the facility is still ‘fit for purpose’ and being managed and maintained to the required standard.

Regular re-testing is required by several sports federations / governing bodies to retain the initial classification / accreditation of the site.
